This design is an extremely fast little boat. It is designed with a canting wing mast, a canting keel, deck spreaders cantilevered from the the deck, and a fixed bowsprit.
The spreaders will of course cause problems when coming alongside, and I am currently investigating a solution. Possibilities include hinging the spreaders and taking the upwards load from the shroud via a wire to the hull at about waterline level (wire will cause drag), have them retract inside the hull like the bowsprit (impractical for space reasons), cantilevered inside a well in the hull, they could be removed when not sailing, but a deep well is needed and the rigging has to be slackened to remove them. I am of course assuming the presence of extra shrouds or lowers to hold the mast when in harbour. The easy option would be to have them fixed and anchor!
A single daggerboard is located forward of the mast for simplicity.
