The program calculates the area at each station by fitting straight lines through the points given.
This is to allow chines hulls to be analysed, and also simplifies greatly the calculation process.
The hull is shown the way the program interprets your data points.
It is for this shape that the displacement will be calculated.
View the section area curve
Please note that the image of the section area curve draws straight lines between stations.
The area under the curve therefore represents the area calculated by trpezoidal rule.
The simpson's rule method numerically "fairs" the areas to give more accurate displacement values.
However, there is no substitue for having as many stations as you feel like entering manually.
